It is likely no great surprise to our supporters that libraries encourage literacy. But did you know that studies show parents reading to their children from birth through childhood significantly increases a child’s chances of school success? CADL provides parents with the resources to read to their children, and a fun, free space where literacy is the focus. The library’s collection includes many materials for parents about literacy and school success. Also, every CADL branch provides storytimes for parents and children, and several branches have Early Literacy Play Time programs to model early literacy behaviors for parents!
